Brody bits... in which Brody blogs
Thanks to OneKidsMom for pushing us off the diving board and into a new blogging pool! More than likely you've followed us to this blog from SP so you're familiar with Brody, Riley etc. and know we are not regular bloggers (and often stray out of the physical health and nutrition lane.) But you never know where this new path will lead us. Now to let Brody (my now 5yo rescue dog for those who may not already know him) tell a bit about freedom on the Fourth of July - from his perspective.
Hi all - Brody here!
Mom is letting me give you the latest as she tries out this new place to post what she calls blogs. Not sure what that means but I've got a story to tell. Supposedly yesterday was some kind of holiday. From my perspective (about one foot off the ground) it meant there were fewer people and dogs out on the walking paths and lots of strange noises coming from the sky that kept me from falling asleep until way past my usual bedtime. But back up a few hours...
The exciting part of yesterday was going over to my favorite neighbor's house. Well, what a surprise was waiting for us there yesterday. First off, I got left home - she took Riley and left me!!?? After a long time (about 10 minutes) I was getting really lonely when I heard her open the back door and ask me if I wanted to go... silly question - didn't have to ask me twice! If you think that was the surprise... just wait.
On Carol's deck were a whole bunch of people (about six) I had never met before... yippee! until I heard this growling noise and oh no... another dog. Mom said it was ok it was just a puppy. Ha! No way - I'm not going anywhere near that thing. Riley can let it climb all over him and bite his ear. I'll just stay here by Mom... just in case... When the growling stopped and things calmed down, I did walk around and meet the new humans. I got a few nice pets even but then that puppy-thing came bouncing over so I went back and stood next to Mom. I asked her to pick me up but she wouldn't - she just pet me and said "go play" - not.
The best part came when the puppy squeeze through the railing and escaped from the deck. Good riddance, I say. But a couple of the humans went to get it so... I didn't wait for an invitation (or my leash) I squeezed through their legs followed along just to see what would happen. Wow... freedom! Ha, I'll just show that puppy the ropes. I chased her in a big circle round the house. Everybody thought she was sooo quick - ha! I was right on her tail. That was fun but, after a few rounds, I'd had enough and went to find Riley. Didn't want that thing to turn around and come after my ears! Later, when we headed home, I kept an eye out just to make sure nobody followed us!
Hope you got outside yesterday too and enjoyed your freedom!
I found you! Thanks for leaving a bread crumb for me. You are now on my reading list!
ReplyDeleteSo good to "hear" your voice again, Brody! You are such a good example to your fellow Spark-doggies! But really, puppies aren't all THAT bad... did you know you used to BE one? And I'll bet you were cuter than the new one you met!
So true...! It was actually good for Brody - luckily it was an 11 mo about his size. His socialization with dogs (other than Riley) has been very limited this past year (and not all of it the "good" kind.) The sad part was that he withdrew yesterday - very similar to how he was when I first adopted him. We guess he had no socialization in his early months. I was pleased that Riley (at age 9) put up with the puppy - not all adult dogs do!
DeleteI'm pleased as punch that you boys followed us here, and Barbara too!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fun but stressful day when you are used to only one companion of your kind. Hopefully you get to see him more often and get used to him.
I loved Brody's story! How fun for him to meet a new puppy and to run around free for a bit. I love letting Daisy off her leash when we get to the path. These days there's not another soul out walking - it's too hot! But she's usually so interested in one smell or another that she's oblivious to the people who might walk by. Of course, she has her favorite friends that we see now and then. Thanks for sending me the link - I didn't know that this site had blogs. I haven't done much exploring!
ReplyDeleteAlways loved hearing Brody tell about his adventures, especially visiting hospitals.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you here! So good to hear about Riley and Brodys adventures.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that I found you here, but now I have to figure out how to add you to my reading list.
ReplyDeleteI keep looking in 'friends' comment for Sparkers and I am glad I found you too. I will be adding you to my reading list as well. Hugs and Sparkles New Friend!
